I am new to this site and have tried the motor board and not much luck. I have a 89 f150 with a 300 and a four speed. Problem being if you labor the motor at lower speeds say around 45 or so in third it will jerk and act like it has a dead short somewhere. If you get above 60 you do not notice it. I am wondering if it is a voltage issue or ??. I have replaced all the basic electronics as well as altenator, battery, injectors, main fuel pump intake gasket. I have tried different shops and with the analizers they still cannot correct the problem. Also with moisture it defintily gets worse. Any ideas out there would be appreciated. THANKS ::-
It's related to the ignition system - check your timing, plug wires, cap & rotor, coil, and pull the codes. The Haynes manual tells how to do all that & more.
I’m having the same problem with my 1995 F150 302, I installed plugs and now I have a miss or shudder at low speed aprox 30mph. It is not constant but it is consistent meaning it skips for aprox one second then stops for one second then repeats until I either get on the throttle and it downshifts or I let up the throttle. Its not wire crossfire as I have checked that, I assumed it was a sensor or ?? that I hit while changing plugs. The Ford dealer changed the computer, trans, wires, plugs, wires, converter. they had it for two weeks and can’t fix it. I’m at a loss and have started to live with it until the truck dies. Hope you had better luck than I have.
There are NO codes, go figure. Well there was one but it was the EGR not shutting and I replaced it but forgot to clear the code. Not only has the dealer had it. Junior Demato The guy on the radio had it for a couple of days and 300 later new plugs he also thought it was plug wire crossover. Still the problem persists.
Bed1rock, my motor was in the shop again, not alot of luck. Yes steve the codes were brought up and addressed with no real change. Until yesterday, it stopped and I replaced the module the fastened to the distibutor and it runs the best it has for along time. Will see if it changes when i drive in rain. Covered the contacts with a good amount of dielectric paste. This was changed out two years ago so will see if it continues to help.
Is there someone that makes a cable that will connect to a laptop and the trucks data connection under the hood and use datalogger software for the pre 76 ford trucks?
I don't have a MAP sensor, but after reading more about it I realized not only did I change plugs ( which I thought caused my problem) but I reoiled my K&N. Another thread said I may have contaminated the sensor in the MAS. Tomorrow I clean the throttle body and the MAS sensor and put in an OE air filter, if the rain holds off.
Well my truck is in for the transmission tommorow. Acording to all on the newsgroups my problem is my electronic trans. The fluid MUST be changed every 30,000 with a anti-shudder additive. I will let you know if it works out.
Well the tranny fluid and the additive got rid of my shudder. Now if I can get rid of the skip Ill be all set. I already checked the wires for cross-fire.New plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, egr, flowmaster exhaust. AGH.
