Just want to share my bliss that I"m experiencing with my new Moog SSD99
Steering Damper. It makes a huge difference on the way my truck handles.
It drives like a brand new truck (I did replace the steering knuckle bearings a while ago) I got mine from AutopartsExpress on ebay for about $55. Best money spent yet (except for the Ram horns ).
I remember my dad had one of those on the truck for a while. It cured all kinds of shaking & vibration. Its not on it now... Don't remember why it was removed, but it may have been pulled when we rebuilt the front end.
Did it come with clear easy-to-follow instructions?
What are those?
Actually it was really easy to install and yes the instructions are clear. It fits on 4x4 trucks, just have to find the sweet spot on the axle. Also the brackets are good steel not cast pop metal.
do you remember brand and PN? for 2WD and no PS, I would be interested in adding one. Thanks
Joe
i could have sworn It's the same part number, and I even remember seeing a picture of a 2wd setup in the instructions but the big bracket is made to match my front axle exactly. I already threw out the box and instructions. Try looking on oreillys.
I bought a complete power steering kit from CPP because I was not used to the armstrong steering at all on the old trucks. I installed a bump steer kit before installing the power steering kit and with a little practice I got so comfortable with the truck that I never installed the kit, its still sitting in my garage. Great way to spend some money.
