Are you sure the cops weren't after you, that sounds like the Turbo winding down were you pulling, or could be that the fan was on How's your temps on the scan Gauge?
No cops haha, I wasn't towing anything, and I don't have a scan guage, but everything on the guages looked good. It does it all the time from when I start it to the time I shut it off. Towing the trailer to the races tomorrow and am a little worried about it, but it runs good thought.
You really need to get some kind of Monitoring and watch EOT, ECT, too many sensors to mention ( a lot ) when the truck is idleing or even at driving speeds do you hear a whistling or tea kettle sound that could be from the Turbo and even CAC boots the unisome ring in the Turbo may be sticking and splits in the CAC boots make that sound too , you have 4 boots to look at
1. Turbo inlet
2. across the front of fuel filter
3 one under each Battery.
Depends on which end the sound is coming from... I drove my neighbors truck, F-350 V-10 and it is getting new ring and pinion bearings now. He didn't notice the noise until I made him aware of it.....
My turbo also sounds like one too. I just put a new turbo in. I sorda like the sound lol. Are you going to RIR if so what lot. I'm here now and could help if you need anything for the boots
Yes even while I am driving I hear it. How do you check the boots? Do you have to take them off to inspect them or is there another way? Thanks
To really see the crack you would have to take them off, the one to the Turbo will be on the bottom, you could take a mirror and sqeeze the boot it would show up that way too, or with truck running sqeeze and feel for air pumping at your hand. Riff raff diesel products has some real good ones they also carry OEM products aswell If needed
I have been searching the forums because I have a low pitched "wooooo" siren type sound that is definitely turbo related. Although I haven't done much troubleshooting yet, one person wrote that their siren/howl/groan/woooo (not a whistle though) sound was due to a loose up-pipe connection. The metal gasket between the two joints was creating the sound, kind of like when you put a blade of grass between your two thumbs and blow through them to make the grass whistle. And so the metal gasket was acting like a reed.
Thanks for all the responses, I took it to the mechanic today and he checked out all the hoses, they were all good, and said that the turbo probably had some surface rust on the vains since I haven't been driving it much lately. Thanks again
Well ya bess getout and drive that 6.0 like you stole it, Turbos don't like to sit around, specially during rainy season , they liked to be worked at most, may need a real good cleaning , you could try a few WOT but if it's real bad you would benefit from the cleaning anyway. good luck and let us know how it goes
