So life lately for me has been pretty chaotic.
Very busy... go, go, go.
The lack of spare time for my own projects has carried over to my truck.
I have been noticing a fuel starvation getting worse and worse.
Playing with the peddle on my way home from the shop today... i got my fuel pressure gauge to hit the goose egg. Felt about right by what the sotp dyno was reading.
I remembered the lil napa plastic inline filter i got when i did my oil change and fuel bowl filter last weekend. Grabbed it, crawled under motorbug... and found my fuel restriction.
Hrmmm...
Seems like its been on there for a good 10k. If not a little more.
Wouldnt you know it tho... that injector banging that i was sure it would completely fail any second got all quiet lol.
Those filter can suck. Had a class C motor home once that stopped on the road. Looked at everything and found the same thing. I didn't even know it was there. They can stop you dead in the water at the very worst time.

The one i replaced with the one i just removed any bypassed left me on the side of the road when i very first got the truck. I picked up the truck and drove her home from Seguin to Victoria and she was at a full tank. She had sat, unstarted for 4 years before i picked her up. Burned 3/4 of a tank on the trip home... about an hour and a half drive.
Next fillup cleaned all the crud off the walls of the tank i guess and clogged the filter.
That experience led me to the hutch mod. Then i just couldnt stop.
That is crazy with only 10k on it. I must be blessed with very clean fuel here on the west coast. My lill pre pump filter that looks just like yours has over 200k on it and still looks and flows fine. I have also never had a fuel bowl filter come out looking like it needed to be changed, even with upwards of 30k on them.
I keep about 3 pre filters and a screw driver in my glove box. Since I dis the hutch and harpoon mod my truck gells up often during the winter. Plus it's just smart to have some of the basics in the truck. It's one of the few things that can be easily stowed and changed in a moments notice

I had the same jelling problems with those little filters. I upgraded to a Racor heated filter and not one problem at -15* this winter.
