No I actually meant you could pick up the wire that goes to the bed light behind the glove box because all wires for the cab originate back to the glove bo or wherever your body control module is) just so you don't have to do a potentially sloppy wiring job with your trigger wire.
Oh, I misunderstood and didn't know that is where they all feed to. However, do you think that would still kick the parking lights on if I turned the dome light on since they both come on together? Well, really all 3 do; the dome light (there are 2, one center and one at the back of the cab above the back glass, I have a crew cab) and the bed light.
Well when you unlock it they will. But the important thing is can you turn the domes on with the switches in the truck and not have the bed light on at the same time. If so then it will work well. Just think about how great your truck will look when you're done.
I got mine hooked up to fire my headlamps and back up lamps plus my parking and domes all when I unlock it although mine is fairly in depth but anything is possible. I also got remote start and that makes mine a little different to work on.
So in looking up some relay diagrams. It seems that 85 and 86 are sometimes used interchangeably. However, if I get a Bosch 4 pin relay with a diode in it, would it matter which one I connect to ground and which one I use for a trigger source?

I cannot. When you use the dimmer switch to turn on the dome lights, then bed light also comes on.
What do I do then? I don't really mind the parking lights coming on when I open the door but I don't want the parking lights to come on when I use the dimmer switch to turn the dome lights or bed light on.
Would that more likely involve the relay with the diode in it or the the 5 pin relay instead of the 4 pin?
Ill have to think on that but you could probably use a 5 pin relay and wire it to cancel itself out when you turn on the switch inside. Ill get back to you on this
With a 5 pin relay;
30 is from main hot
85 would be ground
87 would be to/from the parking lights
86 would be from the dome lights (trigger source) and
87A would be to the dimmer switch? So it would work when everything else is not powered? Is that even close?
87A is a pin that takes the power from 87 when the trigger switch isn't live. I would think though depending on what the truck uses as current to light the switch basically we need to get the truck to use its negative current when the dimmer switch is on to cancel out the relay which is possible but its a science.
Why don't you just wire 30 with a switch so that you can cut the thing off whenever you don't want it to come on with the interior lights. That'd just be a lot easier then adding 5 or 6 wires to the equation just to turn off something we might only want to turn off a few times.
Well, not knowing a whole lot about this to begin with then studying a little about relays in the last couple of days, I didn't know if the 5 pin would work or not.
To answer your other question, I just wanted to make it work like the newer model trucks. Like I said earlier in the thread, my dad's 2012, all of the parking lights come on when the door is opened along with the dome lights and bed light. So I know there is a way to do it. I just don't know what it is.
Well you won't really need a 5 pin if you decide to go with the toggle switch idea that can cut the relay off. If plan on getting much more in depth then the 5 pin may come in handy down the road. Personally I'd just put the switch in in front of the relays power source just to make things simple and not have to start tearing up other wires.
Just thought of something off the top of my head and if you're willing to start tearing into the steering column we could try to use the Ignition switch to kill the relay.
