Wow what alot of info! Great to find 1960 Ford pickup owners. Some of you might not like this but I'm in the process of putting my 60 on a 77 3/4 ton 4x4 frame.Has anybody done something similar?Any tips? Also I have a 352cid V8 that the previous owner put in the truck, I really need a rebuild book for the motor thanks for the help.

Hey welcome to FTE! I'v seen a few 1960 swaps on later frames on ebay, so it has been done. The hardest part would be mounting the body. Check Amazon.com for FE engine rebuild books or even try a 77' shop manual or chilton's(did they go back that far?). Good luck with the project and keep us informed. I highly advise you stick around here make some friends because there is alot of info. P.S also try the 73-79 forum for all the driveline questions. -4speed

Hi, and welcome to FTE!
Sounds like a cool project! I always wanted to try that with a '79 4x4 frame, and a '59 body. Then I found my '59 F-250 4x4 with low mileage, and decided to stay stock.

The different wheelbase and "set back" front wheel well on the '60 body will probably make it a challenge, but anything is possible if you have the time and funds.

Hi there! Sounds like a nice project, in a lot of ways easier than adding newer parts to the old chassis. You might want to look through indexes of the classic truck magazines to see if there are any similar articles in there.

A close friend of mine just finished putting a 1949 body on a 77 1/2 ton pickup. He used a flatbed to avoid the wheelbase issues.
Unfortunatly last week he really needed the cash to pay off a traffic ticket so he sold it for 1000 bucks before he could get it inspected. I wish I would have seen him before he sold it, I would have gladly bought it off him. 69 351W, manual 3-speed with overdrive, good body, new paintjob, decent 33 inch tires, nice custom interior with an awsome sound system.........oh well.
