Toneau Top??

I would like to cover my bed with a Toneau top. Is there a problem that I'm not aware of? Will any Toneau for an eight foot bed work? just measure and install?

Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a liner, tool box, etc?

Check to make sure that it will fit our trucks. I know for a fact that the bed covers for a 97+ f150 will NOT fit. They are about two inches short. Other than that there is no reason one can not be fitted.

I have seen a few posts about using 80 to 96 beds and reskinning them with dentside panels. So it makes me think that maybe anything that fits a truck up to 96 might work. Personally I never tried it but maybe someone else has and will chime in.

Just measure your bed and get the right length. No drilling. Easy as pie. I got about a 1.5 gallon increase in mpg when I installed mine. Just be careful when you are sitting on your gate drinking a beer. The rail makes too convenient a back rest but the construction of the corner connectors won't support the extra weight. Fortunately the company replaced the at no cost.

FYI, the 73 to 96 beds are the same, except for the outside skins. so anything those years for the beds will fit. The cab rear window angle is a little different so camper shells don't always fit snug but a cover will.

As far as measurements are concerned the beds from 73-96 are the same. But there are differences other then the outer bed side that are different. Such as the inner wheel houses are different for the 73-76 beds than compared to the 77-96 trucks. The difference has to do with the change from the exposed gas caps to the fuel door. Actually the entire inner bedsides are different for this reason. Plus the rear vertical bed post is different for to accommodate the different tailgates. And the outer wheel house that weld to the bedside and the inner bedside is different to match each style change of the outer bedsides. But with that said a tonneau cover will fit any bed from 73-96 and actually 98 on the H.D. 250/350 trucks.

The only issue I see is if you go with the old school snap on cover. All those rivets and snaps are asking for rust. Stick with the new style covers and you should be good to go.
