There is supposed to be a detent under the gas peddle on my 1956 F-100 ford o matic. It is not there and I can not find one. Nor can I figure out what it is supposed to do. Anybody able to help? Please

You should have this under the pedal, I have had this on my watch page for a while, I don't need it but will as soon as someone buys it.

kick out switch

That is the overdrive kick out switch. The detent is something different and carries a different number.

What are you calling a detent, the portion on the backside of the 9735 pedal that the ball stud of the 9725 accelerator linkage fits into?

TAAA-9735-A = The pedal is the same, 1948/56 all trucks except 1948/52 F5/F6 COE.

Hi!
I think he´s asking about 9A858, I think it is a artificial feel device for the kick-down on the ford-o-matic. You have a "mark" on the firewall where the hole for it soppose to be.
I got one on Ebay som years ago so have a look there.

Check with MACs & RockAuto they both had the low mount water pumps. If you can't find one or yours is a high mount Harrier got his rebuilt and seemed happy with it drop him a PM to see where that was.

It is a STOP ***'Y (ACCELERATOR PEDAL DETENT) B5C 9751-A as close as I can tell. It fits the same place that the overdrive kick down switch would go.

No such part number! See 9A858 in parts catalog pic in post 6 and correct part number in post 9.

Left: No 9751 listed / Right: 9A858

Is this an actual switch or just a spring-loaded piece that stops the pedal from going too far?

It´s just spring-loaded but you have to push hard to get it moving, its adjustable so that it can be matched to the kick-down.
