Does it just set the SES light or does the PCM change anything how the truck is running?
I will randomly set this code while pulling my racecar trailer. Stock tune, red line unplugged. I know what the code means and why i'm setting it, just don't know if its changing how the engine is performing. SOTP doesn't feel like anything changes, truck drives/pulls just fine other than the annoying SES light.
I read into P1249 and the WGC solenoid a little. I'm not sure what exact parameters set it off, but I think it's safe to say it's because you have an overboost condition. My guess is the MAP sensor is telling the PCM what your boost is, and the PCM is telling the Waste Gate Control solenoid to the open waste gate, but the boost pressure isn't dropping. So you get a code for wastegate steady fail.
From what I've read from vendors is when you have you have an overboost condition the PCM will start to cut back on the fuel delivery in an attempt to bring the boost back down. I installed a Boost Relief Valve from Dieselsite.com before I put a DP chip in and it worked good for me.
That's what im wondering, if the PCM starts to defuel. When it set it off Saturday night I was getting on the highway going uphill up the on ramp. I didn't have my foot buried in it too deep when the light came on. The truck didn't act any differently. You'd think if it was defueling I'd be able to feel it nose down on me, but I didn't notice anything. I plan on ordering a php chip within the next few days, so from my understanding the tuners can fool the pcm so these lights don't get set?
DP tuner adjust codes 1211,1249,0478 so that you don't get a light for it. Over the weekend I took off my BRV and I started getting code P0238 for Boost circuit A high input. Put the BRV back in and I'm not getting the light anymore. I'm sure if I contacted them they will fix it. Before I put the BRV in to start with I could tell it was defueling when i really got into it. It's like the power would just flat line. I would still be accelerating, just not near as fast.
