hello, my name is bob from Georgia. fabmandelux asked me to introduce myself here. I found the site a few months ago when I bought my 66 f100 that originally was purchased by my wife's grand father. been in her family for 48 years, and is being restored with the help of my 15 year old grandson Kaleb. hope i'm doing this in the right location, just not a computer guy, and don't want to upset the apple cart. I know when I need help, I will find it here.
Welcome to the forum Bob. This is the best place to refer to when you got questions about your truck. I just completed a disc brake and power steering swap thanks to this site. There are some smart dudes on here. Again welcome.
Welcome!! Looking forward to your questions and input; post pic's if and when you can. I am not computer literate and found using a free online photo storage site was mush easier to upload pic's than the FTE photo alum site? Again, welcome!
thanks for the welcome guys. I have posted some pics of the truck from the day I bought it to last weekend getting a new door installed. can't miss the smile on Kalebs face after driving the truck for the first time. again thanks for the warm welcomes.
looks great. btw, you probably know, but when you replace that door, save the warranty plate to put on the new door. It has all the history of your truck that others on the board will be able to break down for you. I am learning the hard way, my previous owner did not and now I have a problem with the registry. The hidden numbers on the frame don't match.
I have been watching the restoration thread from theastronaut, and found the rivets are available so I can mount the warranty plate on the new door. I also looked up the info, and the truck, other than the door, and possibly the bed will be original. thanks.
Pic in your album that shows light blue '66 F100 parked in a shed, has the correct Styleside pickup bed.
These 6 1/2' & 8' Styleside beds were only used on 1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD.
Excepting 1961/63 F100/250 2WD Uni's, the only other Styleside beds are the 1957/60's. When installed on 1961/66's, are called the "wrong" beds because the bed lines don't match the cab lines.
that's the day I bought the truck from the wife's uncle. the header panel, front cross member, and floor are rotted out, he left fertilizer in the bed. I have been looking for a 64/66 bed, but no luck. do you know if these panels, or pieces are available, I would like to keep the truck as original as possible. any help would be appreciated.
