I have a 2000 F250 Super Duty truck with the utility bed. there is a fast blinker. What I am wondering is if the side markers in the front are supposed to be blinking? I already replaced all possible blinker bulbs to no avail. The back end has LEDs.
Short of tracking down a wiring issue, has anyone else had this problem before? Any suggestions? I have 24 other vehicles to maintain, so I cannot spend long on this one. Thanks!
Have you upgraded the flasher relay to an electronic one? With LEDs they will flash fast with a standard flasher. It's located behind the dash around where the upfitter switches, trailer control/ coin tray is. If you have the small glove box option you can access it through there or just reach up and under. There is a plastic lid covering two relays. One is your flasher relay. If you turn them on while searching you can hear and feel for the clicking relay.
If that's not it, maybe the blinker fluid is low...lol.
The LEDs have been on the bed for a long long time. This is a new issue that just started out of nowhere. It was completely random. Acts like a bulb is burnt out. I have replaced all fuses, relays, and bulbs. The last thing I could try is the actual turn signal module.
Is this happening in both directions? I'm surprised your LEDs flashed normally in the past, I had to switch the flasher unit like Lx460 mentioned on my '01 when I replaced with LEDs. Did you initially install the LEDs? Some LED bulbs have built in resistors that imitate the incandescent bulbs so they flash normally, or a resistor could be installed in parallel to the bulb to imitate its load. If the resistor burned out it would cause the fast flash.
The LED's have been on there for at least ten years since the owner bought the truck. And yes, its happening to both sides. So essentially....pull the LED's and check out behind them?
