Borg Warner Transmission Help???

I have been through a ton of threads and have pretty much identified the transmission in the 1955 truck. It's got the original 6cyl and trans. It appears to be a Borg Warner 3 speed. Not the overdrive. It has the short open tail. Turns out the parts house doesn't know how to look this up to get me gaskets. Is their a specific model/name for this? Any help would be great. It has AF-7006-D on the housing. Thanks,

Jason

Van Pelt has a great amount of information available for transmissions (he also sells parts, too). Flathead Parts Drawings-Transmissions

I've seen the drawings. And had hoped I could get parts sooner from Napa or something. Worst case I'll have to call them. But I still would like to know the proper name for these.

It's a T-86. NAPA doesn't have anything but the rear seals. There are top and side-loader variants as well as Jeep, IH, GM et al versions of it with variations on several parts. Van Pelt is the best source for Ford versions.

Gaskets are very easy, quick and cheap to make.

I used T-86 to get a new tail shaft seal. And made new gaskets myself. Should be in good shape. Everything else looked good.

55 Ford trans

Hi Jason....saw this thread and thought I' respond since we were mentioned as a source. If the trans has the 9 bolt side cover, it's a Ford design unit. The light duty 3 speed trans never had a "name" aside from the LD reference for light duty. Totally different from the Borg T86 design, although the rear oil seal was the same. Shifter shaft seals are different. Gaskets are different, and synchros are different.

If it turns out you need any other parts for it, let us know.

Mac,
Thanks for the heads up. I'll see exactly what we have. It's great to have that information now. We restore these old trucks, and see all kinds of transmissions. Usually 3 on the tree with these. Someone converted ours to a side shift.
