I have a leak in my rear fuel tank, the front tank has been blocked off and is not used,
The leak is at the seam of the two part tank,
once removed is there a way to seal this? or should I just replace it?
My opinion, if you can get a new tank, do it. Gas tanks can be sealed, but it will be more work than putting on a new tank, and you may end up with a new tank anyway:
To seal, the tank has to come off, be cleaned out, an abrasive like gravel put in and then the tank has to be rolled every which way a lot so the gravel can scour it. Then another cleanout, then all openings sealed with tape and then the sealer, or sometimes an etcher first, put in and tank rolled all over again to coat it well. Then tape removed and allowed to dry completely. It's a lot of work, and at any step of the process it may be found that the old tank has decayed too much in one or more spots.
