A plan is good, but if you convince yourself to just do one thing each day, even if it is five minutes of organizing parts or such, you will not lose momentum.

Good luck with it.[/QUOTE]

Very good advice! I set a goal for each week depending on what other things are going on, and budget my time accordingly. My kids go to bed at 9:00, and my wife leaves for work at 9:30, so usually 9:30 to whenever is "truck time". I really have to watch the clock, more than once I've been out there until 2 am. Makes it hard to get up and go to work the next day!!!

build plan

I am doing the same truck a 49F1 with a Mustang 5.0, E A4OD trans, 8.8"Explore rear axel, Heits Mustang 11 front end, Firewall mounted booster, and rear mounted gas tank. Nad still in the building stage
I removed all of the sheet metal except the cab, and installed the Mustang 11 kit, then dry fitted the eng & trans and installed the mounts, I removed the eng & trans for their rebuild and tackled the rear axel and rear gas tank install,
I than did all of the body work on the cab and painted it (knowing that I may have to repaint it when the truck is finished) I wanted the paint on he cab & chassis before I started the wiring, Brake lines, & fuel lines.
The next thing I did was install the brakes and did all of the plumbing. Followed by the rough wiring ( bring all of the wires to the area they will go and tying them off in a small roll out of the way)
Next was the engine & trans reinstall and getting the drive shaft made.
I pick out my seats so I could set the steering column. After I had the right measurements I removed the seat & column and finished wiring the inside of the cab. This week end I hope to set the steering column back in for good.
So at this point I will have the drive line finished (except the radiator) brakes done, and about 50 % of the finished wiring.
Now I will get to the rest of the body work, It is a different part of the garage so I will not have to worry about dust or over spray.

this is about my 6th build but my 1st that I have taken down to the frame.

Tom, sounds like a great sequence of tasks. With my frame stripped, I'm thinking the next thing I need to do is decide on the front end. Man I'd like to do the Jag set up, but if I can get a good set of front springs, I'm thinking the disc brake set up would be a direction I'd prefer to go, as I'd probably have to go 800-1000 miles to find a donor Jag. At any rate... thanks again everyone for the input here. Please send any other thoughts you may have!

Well, I picked up the 302/tranny and the explorer rear end this weekend. So, renting a cherry picker tomorrow to unload the engine out of the back of my truck. Next month I'll buy an engine stand so's I can start the overhaul!
