distributor is stuck

Does anyone have any tips on freeing a distributor in a 351M? I want to replace the intake but can't get the distributor out. I have been putting pen oil on it for about 2 weeks without luck.

Will it move at all? Have you tried gently tapping it with a rubber mallet or 2x4?

I had to grab mine with some channel locks and twist it back and forth to get it out, just dont squeeze it too much.

Try the "Candle Trick" explained in several posts in the garage forum. When you put a new distributor back on remember to put anti-seize on it. Use anti-seize every time you have aluminum in contact with steel or iron. Use it on all bolts threaded into or passing thru aluminum. Aluminum is nasty corrosive stuff. Use Stainless steel bolts in aluminum if at all possible.

If all else fails, try a few drops of muratic acid (concrete cleaner) on it. The stuff is a diluted form of hydrochloric acid, and will eat through the corrosion......hopefully.
