The problem I have with gas injection is the pre-ingnition it causes. I get the power gains, and even the economy gains if you can get your gas at a decent price.

Sounds fun.

I got down to have a look at the black one... short answer about $30,000 over priced.
the mags, bull bar, grill, rear bars. 3 out of 4 flairs, snorkle. Are very appealing.

There is no service history. The dealer didn't know much about it either. Seemed to have had duel batteries (one removed). There was a reverse camera. Not connected to head unit. The stereo wouldnt work. The drivers seat was worn on the entry side. It seemed to have a long range tank in it. Cb radio had ripped cable. Brake controller yep. Had 12v plug in the rear and accessory plugs.

I'm thinking the previous owner had trouble selling with huge kms so ripped out what he could to sell and fobbed it off to the auctions

the drive was cool. Lots of grunt (you guys would be use to this I am not)
Handled ok bit of a sway in the steering from about 70km/h. Took it off road a bit like up a tiny hill and over some pot holes. 4×4 worked.

[IMG] [/IMG]
$44990ish and 295000kms

Glad you got to get a drive of one, should give you a good idea of what they all drive like, so easier to notice issues.

Sway on the steering means either ball joints or steering box (most likely). Both fixable, but neither that cheap (~$1000).
Also, all 7.3's have 2 batteries, but its a 12V circuit, and not a twin battery setup like a lot of people fit to a 4x4 - both batteries are used for starting.

All of the issues you mention, apart from the steering, are cheap to fix, but the lack of service history would worry me... a lot.

I'm glad I got to go for a drive as well, I did kinda love it.

As for the service history there was a sticker on the back from a place in NSW. So I will call them on Monday to see if anyone knows anything. I did it before once when I was buying a bike, good to get a non bias Point of view.It is negotiating factor.

There is also minor panel damage, and the missing flare just annoys me, can you buy just one flare?

Either way there is the blue one (see previews posts), its been for sale for over 6 months now, he wanted $60,000

There are couple duel cabs in QLD sorta an hr or so from me, so i might call one or both of them tomorrow. Anything to not complete the renos on the house.

wow this is cheap but high kms

That last one is well priced for the Km's. These things can do 300-500 K miles without any issues so dont let a measly 300000 kms worry you. Also I have a spare just about everything (lol)
And you have to buy at least two flares. Just went through this with Clay. The guy who cut mine to fit around the snorkel made a meal of it so I had to get another.

I'd agree about it being well priced. I wouldn't worry too much about the k's, as Brian said, many have done 500k miles (800k km) without trouble.

The trans might need a good going over, but all of them might need that. Factor in a few grand for that, and for any wear in the front end, and you should have a truck that will last you a lifetime.

It looks like it has been well looked after, and with that price you can save a few dollars for the mod budget

Whoa, a V10 in Australia - a personal import I'm guessing?

You'd want to gas-convert that V10 gasser, or own a petrol station !

Not cheap to run - but I have found no worse than one of my friends that has a 4.8l Patrol. Pity its the older 2V version, so only 310hp.

Apart from the V10 it's a very smart looking truck , to me looks like it's being set up for towing , but why would you want to tow with a V10?
There must be plenty of others about, but as fuel is rising there could be a few more.

Can't agree more!
Diesel is the only sane way to go.
If petrol was good for towing then Kenworths would have petrol engines.

Yeah , your dead right the CC seems to be the most popular in Aus , especially for towing, and anything that not diesel just look at it and drive past.
