I am planning on picking up AE in the very near future. My problem is that I have a Mac book pro and from what I have read it only runs on Microsoft. It sounds like there is a way to use it with Mac by using some kind of parallel program? But that sounds above my technological abilities. So I have been thinking about trying to buy a used tablet to use pretty much exclusively for AE. For those of you that are using tablets for AE what are you using and do you recommend a specific kind/brand?
I have a "carputer". GPS, email, AE, gauge programming software, HydraFlash, truck manuals, etc.... A lowly netbook with an Atom processor is all that's needed (used ones are available on CL and eBay). Tablets are typically iOS or Android.
You might be able install it in Windows with Mac's Boot Camp, or possibly using a virtual machine such as Virtual Box or VM Ware. I've never tried it, so you may want to get in touch with AE's tech support to see what they say about it.
that's funny that was the thread I was looking at today when i was looking to see if AE could be used on a Mac. I liked the idea of picking up something small for using in the truck

is that the same setup you have in the picture you posted for the guy that wanted gauge options? That looks exactly what I was looking for. All the netbooks I saw had keyboards tho. I was hoping for a cheap Microsoft version of an iPad. Is that essentially what you are using?

I believe he's using a Nexus 7 running the Torque Pro app connected to a bluetooth OBD dongle.
I just bought a refurbished Dell from dell (to replace an older Sony Vio that used xp) because it was to slow, xp is no longer supported and I just needed something nicer. Dell 6410 with 4gb ram, windows 7 and a bunch of stuff for $350 shipped. I love it and I only wanted/needed windows 7 for my AE.
That's a big unit (14"). It's OK in the driveway or garage, but logging while driving down the road could be cumbersome. 7" is a very convenient size, a smart phone is too small to see squat, and 10" is about as big as can fit on the middle console while leaving arm room.
