i hit 105 tonight following one of my buddys around town.. we were racing and he hit 122 he said and he started to pull away from me at 105 and that sounds about right cuz my needle was buried but the motor kept revvin... AND IN OVERDRIVE TOO and i have 2.73, 5 sp... and a flowmaster muffler... hahaha and i kept right up with his car although it took alot of revves to do it... happy 4th everyone
did a rev limiter kick in or is that all the faster you could go? i am pretty sure mine does better than 105. matter of fact i have a speeding ticket copy that proves it, the ole license was gona for 6 months (112 in a 75)
it wouldnt go anyfaster... or actually it was a sorta hilly road so i think that i slowed down for a hill cuz we stopped for a few... but i havent hit any rev limiter in that truck..
Makes me miss my 82... Built 300, 2.75 gears, 31" tires, no O/D, 100 mph was a paltry 3000 rpm, and, I saw 3500 in 4th a few times, it had more, but, the 'ol Twin-I-Beam front end doesn't like those speeds too much.... For some strange reason, the F250 handles better at high speeds, I've seen 110 mph outta it MANY times, but, that's not for this forum....
Evan
ive gotten my needle to go to the OD symbol on the gearshift twice, guessing thats about 100 or so and thats about as fast as itll go. i hate speedos that stop at 85.
I'm up here in canada, so i'm posting my speeds in KM/H. I got a 91 F150 with a 78 300 1bbl, 4 speed O/D manual and 3.55 gears. I can get mine up to about 170 KM on a long flat stretch on a good day, wich is about 110MPH.
