Got the new carb on after the rebuild. Took it out for a nice drive. Just need some adjusting to get it running right. Thanks to Danleig for the carb and the rebuild kit. I wish the float was brass, but it still looks cool with the glass bowl.
Looks good. I don't think I have ever seen that style air cleaner, what year? I have a glass bowl Holley on mine but oil bath type air cleaner. What is the vacuum line from the manifold going too?
Ok don't hate me for this....The air filter is off my 1939 Chevy truck. The vacuum line goes to the distributor.
I won't tell anyone if you don't tell them I have a 57 Chevy windshield wiper motor on my 57 Ranchero . I'm not sure I agree with running the vacuum from the manifold rather then the carb. That will give you full advance at idle and little to none while driving since a 223 distributor has no mechanical advance.
Well... that may explain why it runs like crap a highway speed! Thanks.
Start be insuring your vacuum unit is working or it won't matter where it's connected A 223 without vacuum advance will be a dog, and cause heating issues.. Set your timing first then connect the vacuum line.
