I have been chasing a bad oil leak all winter. I could not locate it after cleaning and finally took it somewhere to find the source.
It turns out the seal behind the snap ring has gone out. I kept looking at the plug and fittings but missed the seal.
Can that be fixed shy of replacing the hpop? Its a really reputable shop but i do not think i can pay the money required to replace the pump there. Now that i know where the leak is. I am sure i can replace it myself
Follow Bob's directions and use the big C clamp. I did not do either the first time I tried to change the O-ring and the results were not pretty. Second time went well and now no leaks after 5k miles.
