I may have missed this in the tech folders but when you are changing an oil cooler and doing a coolant flush--do you do the flush before the new cooler or after? Also how "dangerous" is it to flush the system if not changing components or doing a backflush?
If the temp spread is out of whack,do a vc9 and restore flush BEFORE you change coolers.if everything is ok,and you just want to change coolant just do a distilled flush with no chemicals.

If you are changing from Ford Gold to Cat can you just do the distilled flush?
I plan to do this this weekend also. My temps are great so I plan to just do a flush and replace with cat coolant. My question is should I do a couple flushes with tap water to get all the gold coolant out? And then do 3 flushes with distilled water? I do plan to remove the thermostat for all the flushes. And is it best to remove the block plugs during each flush? I also have the sinister coolant filter to install before the last fill with cat coolant.
