Will be buying a new clutch for my 1990 Bronco II.Have had Bronco for about a little over 6 years and it has 210,000 miles on it.I basically use it for every day driver and for hunting and fishing. It does not slip but is getting harder to shift especially this past winter.I have an idea that it is the original factory clutch so while I have a little extra money I am going to have a clutch put in it now.Need some good ideas of a good name brand clutch and where you bought it from.As I said it is a daily driver and off road for fishing and hunting. After that hopefully a paint job this year sometime.I love my little Bronco II seems if you take care of them they will run a long time.I think synthetic oil has helped a lot to keep that 2.9 motor running clean!Folks also I read that things like HD,ceremaic, organic, and whatever material the clutch disk should have.I have not bought a clutch in years since I used to drag race some so I am trying to catch up on latest technology. Also I forgot to mention I have the 5 speed transmission in my Bronco. Thanks a lot folks! Mike
In a stock truck I dont think you need anything special for the pressure plate or clutch pack, but if you have the tranny out I recommend a new slave donut, they seem to go occasionally. Ive owned several Ranger/B2's but only once burned a clutch and that was trying to climb mountains in BC with a 4x2 Ranger. Hydrolic issues with both the slave and master come up now and then but unless your modifying other things the clutch isnt often a problem. My B2 has the 2.8L with 30" tires, I use it as a DD and take it hunting/fishing so it goes offroad but nothing too extreme.
This outfit that I have been buying clutches from these guys for 30+ years is family owned and have used their clutches in many applications from Hot Rods, work trucks & racing applications. Just tell them of any concerns, what you have, etc and they will discuss with you what their recommendations are...I can honestly state that I have never had and issue with anything I have every purchased from them and it always works the 1st time- just like it is suppose to! They typically cost less than most of the competitors, provide 24 hour turn-around and the assemblies always work (literally) just exactly the way they should....I just can't say enough about these guys. Just tell them what you have, how you use it and any concerns/issues.

Thanks for the feedback guys I will look into them for sure.I hope it is only the clutch as it has gotten harder to shift. If it warms up first it shifts easier but shifts harder when it is cold.Dont see really where the clutch is slipping but because of the harder shifting is why I am thinking clutch needs replaced as it does have a lot of miles on clutch for sure. Was driving down interstate the other day running about 65 mph for about 35 miles. When I took the exit and stopped at sign.As I took off the transmission felt like it was a lot of pressure to shift like the clutch might not be engaging enough but after about 2 or 3 miles not as much pressure on it and it shifted easier.About 6 months ago I had all the fluids changed in the transmission, transfer case, and rear end.Just thinking with 210,000 miles that might be the problem is the clutch.I have never heard any grinding and dont want to if you know what I mean. Thanks for any feedback as it is much appreciated! Mike
