Hope it works out for you. I got a free cat from work once. She wandered into the shop with a respiratory infection so I took her to the vet for a check up, shots, and had her spayed. My free cat ended up costing me about $600. after it was all said and done. I hope your free engine doesn't end up like my free cat.

Hey, free engines are great and they made lots of those engines for AMC and Jeep vehicles. You will probably want to identify the year, etc. Here is a link to the codes: http://street2mud.com/webfiles/AMC%20Engine%20codes.pdf
I have some 1 bbl and 2 bbl carbs in the top of my barn if you need them.
That engine has lots of bottom end torque as long as you don't over-carburate it. But is not a high winding engine in stock configuration. It is also very reliable . . . except when full of water. The good news is that there are lots race parts available at good prices from various Race Jeep sources. They may have some mount kits but it shouldn't be too hard to fabricate something to fit. Pumping 300 HP out of them is not a problem.
