i have a late 2002 i replaced turbo injectors glow plugs in oct. the truck ran fine to work last week,after work it felt like it was on four cyl. got it home changed oil and filters it started rite up. then we scanedit and the idm code came up did all harness checks they came up good,but still got idm code 1293. what else could it bee and can i get idm flashed? THANKS
ohms on uvch my mech did those. im wondering if if was just the oil being weak. it runs fine now i just dont want to be stranded with the fifth wheel on it.
My IDM went out on me one morning out of the blue. Started the truck to go to work and it was running on one bank, scanned it and an IDM code came up (can't remember which one) Something to the effect #6 injector short IIRC
I just swapped in my spare IDM, and its been fine since
I opened the old one to look for signs of moisture and found nothing. Nothing looked burnt either. One of these days I want to send it in to be checked/fixed/modded.
I believe when they go they go, I'm guessing you prob have a frayed wire or moisture in the plug.
Check the salvage yards. Unless you want to pay the dealer prices. IF you take it to the dealer they will usually tell you its bad even if it ain't. Unless you find a real good one, then the mechanic will check it all.
It really is rare for an IDM to fail. Not saying it never happens, but it almost always turns out to be something other than the IDM. Usually a chafed wire or a bad injector solenoid. A short in one wire can take down a whole cylinder bank.
I searched for any sign of frayed wires and never found anything. However by me grabbing wires and wiggling plugs it's possible that I unearthed the offending wire? Not sure, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I parted out a truck & kept the IDM & PCM for spares.
we found the uvch was not locked to the main harness.put vale covers back on ran it 5 miles then it did it again for 2min. been running fine but it is going in for complete check.i will let you know what happens.
