Spark Plug Torque Spec, please

2000 F-53 Chassis, Triton V-10, 6.8L. Built up to a Winnebago Class A.

What is the torque spec for the spark plugs?
Also, my book calls for spark plug # AWSF-22E.
I'm told that I won't have a problem removing them from the Aluminum head. I'm looking forward to this going smoothly.

Is there an upgrade from Ford OR can you recommend a replacement plug?
I've heard of Autolite as being OK.

Also, does anyone know the Ignition Coil # for this unit? AND where to get a set of 10 at a reasonable cost?

Thanks

Autolites are okay. The Motorcraft SP479 is the recommended replacement.

I use 28 ft-lb.

Probably a DG508 or DG511, you can look it up. You can buy anything from aftermarket to Motorcraft coils for your engine from Rock Auto. The MC coils will run around $40 each. Inexpensive ones will run $15 or less. You can buy Chinese coils off eBay for under $10 each. Most people who know how to troubleshoot simply replace the coil boots and plugs for a tuneup, then replace any individual coils as they might fail.

You should be using Motocraft SP479 as recommended by the previous post .

As far as the torque , it is a controversial subject . Ford Motor Company 2000 Shop Manual recommends spark plug torque 15 Nm ( 11 lb-ft ) .

Project SHO89 says he torqued his 2001 Super duty to 28 lb-ft without any issues .
By the way I torqued my 2003 12 lb-ft (with anti-sieze) about less than 5 K miles ago, (too early to make a comment on mine ) . So, you will have to make a choice of torque based on your personal preference .

Just remember that your motorhome engine block may only have 4 threads that will hold the spark plug.

I would also suggest to replace your COP coils as needed , there are reports of original Motocraft COPs lasting 200+K miles . If I have to replace mine , it will be either Motocraft or its maker Standard brand .

Good luck and happy trails,

This is probably one of the most controversial topics about a Modular Motor, V8 or V10.

For interesting reading try this link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ead-heads.html

What I do on my own E250's is use nothing but MC plugs, thin coat of nickel-based anti-seize and carefully run my torque to 23 ft/lbs. First click of the torque wrench and I stop pulling. So far over three different Modular Motors this has worked perfectly, never had a plug loosen on me.
