Good deal
A friend has found a 2001 Ranger 4x4 4.0 for $800 that has some transmission issues. Right now the truck seems to go into forward gears but will no go into reverse. This is a automatic truck so I am assuming its a 5R55E transmission. The truck does start just fine and I think I can sell or part out the F150 to cover the cost of the ranger.
I have never personally owned a ranger and have very little experience with the 4.0 or the 5R55E transmission so I was wondering what you guys think of them and if this might be a good deal.

If you have, or can come by the inexpensive ELM scantool, like mentioned here, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-scantool.html, it could scan all of the vehicles controllers/computers for evaluation trouble code clues, especiaslly the tranny controller/computer for trouble codes & maybe narrow down your engine & tranny trouble shoot/evaluation some.
