Ok, so the Carburetor Rebuild is complete. Thanks to YouTube, the camera on the Smart Phone, and the fact that it is probably the simplest 2 barrel carb ever made.
My question is, ... since my carburetor spacer is open between the two barrels, should I modify the carburetor gasket to match the spacer? Or should I just leave the gasket alone, even though there's no spacer underneath the space between the barrels?
Would there be any sort of performance gain or loss by cutting or not cutting the gasket?
Should I be concerned that eventually that gasket will degrade and fall apart in to the intake?
Opinions, advice please.
IMHO it matters how often you drive it. If it's anything close to a daily driver it would'nt matter. No gain,no loss. Ford did not have a gasket specific to it. If you're going to drive it every 6 months and give that gasket good time to dry out then I'd match it to the spacer.
She is a daily driver. Just six miles to the Lake where I work and back. I would have thought it was all opened up to better distribute or mix the air/fuel.
