Does the carburetor on a 300 6 cylinder engine require a phenolic spacer between the carburetor and the manifold and if so, where might one find this part?
I replaced my carb the other day and it only had a normal paper gasket. No thick gasket at all. Am I going to have problems? I put two gaskets back on to get a better seal.
It will work with either type gasket, but I
much prefer the thicker gasket. The thick
type usually used with the carter is like a
layered paper gasket, with maybe a thin
plastic inner layer...Not sure.... But it's pretty
thick compared to the paper gasket. The reason
I prefer the thick gasket is #1, being thicker,
I think it probably seals a bit better, being you
can crunch it down a bit, and #2, it insulates the
carb from the heat of the manifold a bit better..
