could anybody explain to me how a cold air intake works and how much horse power is gained from it. i am thinking of putting one in my 300 I6, what can i expect to gain from this?
Basically a cold air kit is an intake tube that moves your air filter to a position outside of the engine compartment to where it can draw cooler air in the engine than the hot air that radiates off your engine.
I am not familiar with what gains you would see for a 300 (not familiar with the engine personally). My guess would be 5-15 horses - somewhere in that range.
A cold air kit is different from just an open air kit like K&N. Open air kits keep the air filter inside the engine compartment, and ti still pulls hot air into the intake...
