So for 4500 miles since new my truck has been displaying, on the right side of the instrument display in the center dash, the actual gear the truck is in. I would shift from park to drive and move out and the truck would display what gear it was in by placing a lighted box around the gear number as it shifted 1-6.
Now that display is gone. It's not anywhere. If I go to the manual mode it will display that, but the normal numbers from 1-6 , bottom to top , are gone.
Something else you may not know. While in drive, if you press the minus button you can lock out the gears. If you press plus you can add them back in. Great feature while towing or descending hills.
Boy do I feel stupid! I thought the + - symbol only worked in the manual mode. I never tried it in drive!
It works now and I appreciate the replies!
Nothing to feel stupid about, nobody knows about that deal at first.
Heck, even the service manager at the dealer where I bought my truck didn't know how it worked. He was about to put a tech on it to diagnose it until a woman service writer came over and showed both of us how it worked.
Another gee golly for ya - put the tranny selector in M, the truck will start off in 1st gear, press the + once while in M and it will start off in 2nd, press it twice and it will start off in 3rd gear. I wouldn't recommend a 2nd or 3rd gear start while loaded but it eliminates some of the herky jerky 1-2 or 2-3 shifts.

Also very useful when driving on the beach in the sand......I lock out all gears above 3rd and turn off traction control and the truck will go thru just about any kind of sand you can find!
Before I bought my 2013, I test drove a 2012 that displayed the gear indicator and thought that was cool.
After picking up my 2013 and noticing it wasn't displayed, I figured it was a model year change and the indicator was deleted. I was bummed.
Until I -- completely by accident -- noticed the + button toggled the display while in D. Doh!
I love that feature.
Makes me wonder how many other interesting features are buried with hard to discover triggers
What color is your DRW?
As for hidden treasures, I mentioned one a couple posts above this one regarding the tranny starting out in 2nd or 3rd gear thing.
Here's another one I stumbled on: if you just barely push in on the end of the turn signal stalk, you can get the wipers to give you one swipe without squirting wiper fluid on the windshield.
You can make that annoying seat belt reminder go away by buckling and un-buckling your seat belt in a pre-determined manner. It's discussed in the owners manual somewhere.
Since you have a 2013 or newer, when you have a trailer attached to your truck that has trailer brakes so your ITBC can detect it, and you use the lane changer feature on your turn signals, the blinkers will blink 5 times instead of only 3. Still not enuf time to change lanes usually, but none the less.
There's more treasures out there, but you gotta beg a little first. LOL
