When your going down the road there is vacuum on both sides of the diaphragm in the booster, when you apply the brakes the atmospheric valve allows atmospheric pressure to go to one side of diaphragm increasing brake pressure. If there’s a hole in the diaphragm it’s a giant vacuum leak. There could be a Bendix ID tag on the booster.
