2011 F150 HVAC problems
I am new to this forum, so please forgive any inexperience in posting or replying.
I have a 2011 F150 5.0 XLT, that I love, but have had a few HVAC issues. After buying the truck used in the winter and thinking that the A/C was fine, summer hit and no A/C. After taking to the dealer and they wanted nearly $900.00 to fix the condenser, I decided to repair myself. BTW, the dealer said that a rock hit and punctured the condenser, so it was not covered by the warranty
. That is repaired and the A/C worked great for the summer. During the winter, the heat stopped working, so you can understand my frustration. The weird thing is that the heat WILL work, if you have the temp **** on the heat setting. With the truck on, if you move the temp **** any at all, the heat goes away and only blows in outside air, so I leave the **** over on the heat setting and turn the power off, or crack the windows if it is too hot. Well, now that it is warmer, I noticed that there is no A/C anymore. It does sound like the air is coming on, cause the electric fan cuts on when the air is on and all seems to be functioning properly. I have not done extensive testing, just wanted to see if I could get a reference point to start. Does this sound like a blender door issue, or something deeper? Any help is appreciated.
Sounds like a blend door actuator issue to me. Perhaps it's sticking or completely FUBAR. It's an inexpensive part but an expensive dealer repair. You may consider finding another shop that you trust if you are out of bumper to bumper warranty.
