Hi I have a 2012 F250 lariat powerstroke and recently got a new trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes and when hooked up to the truck the brakes will not work at all even with gain up to 10. I know the trailer is working because I hooked it up to my buddies 6.7 powerstroke. Now the weird part is my truck will work on trailers with electric brakes.

Assuming you have done that, the brake controller is very different than even my 2008. It seems to be speed proportional, and you will notice more braking from the trailer as your speed is increased. Very little at very low speeds.
Finally, if all that fails, it's dealership time, while it is still under warranty..

I do have it set to electric over hydraulic in the dash and there is no breaking at any speed. The truck has been to the dealer and has has the (tbc) trailer brake control module replaced. Still not working now dealer is saying that the light bar I have in the grille is effecting the brakes but it is not.

What year is your buddies 6.7? It might seem silly, but why not disconnect the lightbar and see what happens? At least you can prove the dealer wrong, and send them back to the drawing board.

I have a 2012 and a large trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes. when I first got the truck I could not get the brakes to work either. seems they don't work with all of the trailer brake acuators out there. I checked everything and was frustrated at first. after talking to the people who make the controllers I found out there is an interface you mount onto the trailer and the 2012 will work with your acuator. I put on the interface and a new acuator (mine was getting old and the newer version was better) now it works great. the original acuator I had was a carlisle and they were bought out by someone but I can't remember the name. I could find out the part # for the interface if you need it or the phone for the manufacturer.

the pump would not run properly before the upfit. it was more of an electrical issue than hydraulic. they said a new acuator would probably work without the interface but definately would with it. (my old actuator was a previous generation and about 7 years old). I have another truck with a different controller in the cab and it wouldn't work with that truck so well either. the interface wasn't alot of money and I need that trailer everyday in the fall when I first got the truck. wanted it guaranteed fixed fast. thats what I got. everything is much better now.
