brake controller

Question brake controller

Does the factory brake controller work elec/hyd disk brakes or just electric trailer brakes?

The information from Ford mentions that the TowCommand brake controller is only shown to work with electric brakes, and not electric/hydraulic or surge brakes.

well, in my experience, the output required for electric and electric/hydraulic brakes are the same (maybe a little lower gain on the E/H)...so there is no reason that it shouldn't work. I haven't had the chance to pull a trailer with E/H brakes with a TowCommand yet, though.

and the surge brake thing is just a little redundant, IMO, because no brake controller works with surge brakes...that's the point.

The only way I can justify the TowCommand controller not working with an E/H system is if the required signal from the controller is brand specific. There may be a company out there that want you to use THEIR contoller with THEIR brakes.
