Yup still working balljoints and now I just broke the#&!
$!*£€* 4x4 locking hub and hit my f $#&#"# shin with a god $! @$ hammer I should not have been useing any way......and Im suppose to be at work 40 min. Ago ahrrrgrrraaaahaha@&€/#?)"£&#!+1==/&!!!! Sorry bout my grammer
After cooling down, calling work, doing some yoga (not really) I took the hub inside the house, fired up this forum and read a awsome writeup on 05 and later 4x4 hubs. ( this place rocks) Took mine apart and cleaned em up. While they were apart I took all 3 gears out to the truck and made sure they would all slide into the hub and also on to the shaft. Put it all together and tried for 2 hrs to get it installed, took it back in the house checked it all out again, tried to install again and after another hr of f___n with it I put a boot on it (gently) and it broke 4 good this time. More yoga, called a buddy, $230.00 poorer, new hub in hand we looked at all the splines and tried to install this one gently......at first, then a bit harder, then with a piece of 8x8 oak and a hammer, and its good! Ok so thats new moog ball jts. both side's upper and lower, new bushing and ball jt. in the track bar, 2 new Rancho 5410 steering dampners, picked up tools and headed for work, felt good on the service road hit I-25 got about 8 miles mild road bump,( expantion joint going over a bridge and here we go again shaken' like a m__th__f____r!! Limped it to work, 6 more times can't get going over 45 mph. Sitting here at work bewildered, it's raining..........I....I.....don't.... love... my.. truck. anymore.
Seriously, the only thing I had to do was replace my worn out tires. And yes it was the "real" death wobbles. I hit a bump on a country road and almost went threw some guy's duck pond. Belts can break on fairly new tires, this may be your only problem.
Just ordered this PMF 2005 13 Ford F 250 350 Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit Bilstein Dampeners | eBay and looking at my tyres I rotated and had em rebalanced. The fronts were worn a little funny so we swapped em to the back which were flatter but the wobble is still there. New tie rod, drag link, tyre's and an adjustable track bar, are in the works but finances wont allow all to be done at one time. Ive still got to return the second Dorman oil cooler I bought and get an OEM cooler after watching another video on here 'bout that particular problem. Install my new coolant filter, get all the above items purchased and installed and I should be golden, or at least take the old girl out on dates again and see if the love can be rekindled. Ahww time for more yoga.
I have a 2010 F250 4WD and experienced my first death wobble a few months ago at 65 mph while driving down in Baja. Hit a pothole in the road is what triggered it and almost lost control nearly flying off the road. Had read about this phenomenon before. My rig has only 20,000 miles, use it pretty much for adventure trips to Baja, have a 6 " Rize quad link lift with King coilover shocks and dual steering stabilizer. A friend of mine has a stock '09 F250 and has had similar problems for years, and after multiple trips to Ford dealer has not been able to remedy the problem.
Am aware of the aftermarket trac bar kits that claim to solve the problem. This week took my rig in to a good alignment shop that I have used for years and they said this is a common problem. The end result, some of my lift components were a little loose, but several front end parts needed replacing:
Trac rod ball joint
Drag link tie rod at pittman arm
right upper outer tie rod end
right outer tie rod end
realignment and wheels rebalanced
much $$$
Drove on it last 2 days, highway/streets and things feel nice and positive, better than it's ever driven.
Can't believe these parts wore out so fast, probably only have 2-3000 miles in true off road driving on this truck, and I don't run it very hard either compared to F150 that I had previously for 12 years and 100,000 miles. If this is what I have to look forward to with Ford, will be selling this truck.
I hope you figure it out. I have a 2" lift with 35 and severely worn out ball joints and have never experienced what you have. It sounds pretty frustrating though
Ok, here is the latest and boy do I feel like a sap. I was moving the mounts on the twin stabilizers ans as I was doing that I gave em the push pull test. 3 days old and totaly shot. Now Im not kidding that I have had these Rancho 5410s replaced at least 7 times under warenty thru Orileys. I checked the stock one also an aftermarket monroe and it was shot also. I have replaced it 3 or times. I feel like a heel. I just spent over a 1000 dollars and busted my *** puttin new parts on, missed a day of work and had to learn yoga because of cheap parts I was putting my faith, saftey, and now lots of cash that I work very hard for. So I returned one 3 day old Rancho and one monroe that fits in the stock mounts and its bandaided up again. The new bilsteins and PMF brackets and another 5100 for the stock mnt will be here in a couple days and Im still going to put new drag link, tie rods and track bar on when finances allow. So the moral to this story of (How The Death Wobbles) is cheap parts end up costing a lot more in the long run and maybe your life. Heads up Rancho 5410 stablizers are JUNK I want to thank every one who helped me from this forum FTE truely Rocks and hey, I think I'll slow down and show off the paintjob. Thanks again Randy
