We picked up Big Red in early November and have been working hard for the last five months. A lot of you have helped us out quite a bit and the rest has been just getting a tremendous amount of info from all of the tons of posts already here. Still more to do but we are headed in the right direction. I'd love to post a pic but can not figure out how to do it. I have uploaded to photobucket but do not see an option here to upload a photo. In my profile is says "you may not post attachments".
Well....now I can give a bit of history. Its an 85 4X4 with the IL 6. 74K original miles and paint. 3rd owner. When we picked it up it was in need of a lot of attention. Had been on a deer lease here in Texas for the last 5-6 years and had really not been driven much or been maintained. She had a partial hack job attempted on getting rid of some of the feedback stuff and now after 5 months she purrs great. No more feedback carb or distributor, no more EGR, Smog Pump, etc. We went with the DUI ignition and it really seems to have been a great call. No regrets as of yet. LOL
Austin - That is a beautiful truck! A real survivor. Since it's been in TX it hasn't had the salt to deal with so doesn't have the rust many of them have. But, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the paint held up. It looks great! Y'all have done a good job getting it On The Road Again. (I'm hearing Willie in the background.)
Very nice looks allot like mine when I got it. I love the red thinking about doing that with mine. Did the side steps have a rod welded to the frame on that one too?
33 inch tires on 16 inch wheels. Yes they are 5 lug. Discount Tire on both. The stock wheels were 15 inch and with the new tires it raised it about 4 inches.
