It is plug and play. It doesn't hurt to update the software in the unit though. Once you hook it up to the truck you can choose what you want to display on the screen.
Good I may just go ahead and order one when I order my downpipe.the scangauge is awesome but I want something that can read egt's as well.
Make sure you get the EAS EGT probe with the EAS starter kit so you can expand it to read things like fuel pressure and coolant pressure and backup camera. EAS is Edge Accessory System.
