I've got warn in mine front end. My dad has them in his excursion. He chewed up a set or 2 of them when he was having issues with the U-joints violently moving and Warn replaced both sets free.
Warn Gold all metal hubs are the only hubs i'll run. I've broken a Ford hub or two, never had any problems with the Warn. I never experimented with the black plastic Warn hubs, there's the general assumption that metal is better than plastic, the fact that i've always lived up north and if I have to beat a metal hub from Free to Lock that's covered in ice I won't break the metal. And finally, I believe (correct me if i'm wrong) the black plastic hubs are a 1/4 or 1/2 turn where the metal hubs are nearly a full turn ensuring a solid engagement. Good luck, sounds like an awesome time!
