Broke The A.R.E. Cap Rear Window

After almost 8 years of having an A.R.E "Z" series cap on my 2003 F150, I managed to break the rear window by backing into the garage and forgetting to close the rear window. I know, chit happens!

I checked with an A.R.E dealer here in the Dallas area, and he quoted me a price of $600.00 for the window plus $60.00 to install. I have done some checking around on the web and it looks like the window is a dealer only item.

I may stop at a few glass shops and see if they can do anything for me.

Anyone else have any suggestions on how to replace the window for a REASONABLE dollar amount?

Thanks

For that price you can almost get a new cap (depending on color and options). Breaking a window on a cap is easy to do but $$.

I'd bet you can find a similar cap on CL for a lot less and either use the glass or replace the entire assembly.

I bought the cap new in 2003 for around $1200.00 and told the dealer the glass was now half of the initial cap cost. He than told me a new cap today is $2200.00!

I have been checking CL and Ebay. The only thing that I found so far that might work is about 1000 miles away.

I'm going to check with a few glass companies today or tomorrow and see if they can come up with anything. The problem is the glass is curved, and it is frame-less.
