I am having a problem with my 1993 f150, it shakes when i corner around 50 or 55. I just put new brake pads on the front but i put them on right so i dont know what it could be. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not the repacking of the bearings that costs much....all you have to do is refill them with grease and pack them back together with a special little tool. What costs is the labor of removing the tires and brakes (i think). So, if you know someone who is cheap labor and is able to do it, or buy the tool and do it yourself it should only cost the grease and tool. Last time I had mine done I did it at sears with a bunch of other work so I'm not sure how it itemized. Call sears, they are usually pretty good about free "checks" . They'll check the alignment and bearings/bushings for free before they do any work. good luck
If the bearings have been run loose for very long, they're worn out & should be replaced. It's not a hard job, and only takes 2 tools that I'd call "specialty": a wheel bearing spanner socket, and a long drift (punch). You can repack them by hand, but a bearing packer is only ~$8 - it looks like 2 plastic funnels.
