Thanks for the good read. I started out just checking out what the post was about and found myself reading it to the end. Gives me hope that there are good people on this site and I look forward to using it throughout my project.

Yep, it's a good group with a sense of humor most of the time. If it isn't fun and informative then what good would it be.

Harrier, I read your comment to Dan (along with a LOT of background information!) and he gave you two thumbs up.

He then asked what you guys thought about the mud truck.
I explained you guys are "old truck" guys and don't generally care about mud trucks, but I don't think he cares. That truck was his pride and joy- longest he's ever owned a vehicle. Haven't had a vehicle stick around more than 2 years since we started dating. Except that truck.

Cat,

The mud truck is great! Even though its one of those new fangled trucks we still like it...LOL

I've had a couple of 73-79 trucks. I really like that body style. My son is still mad at me. I bought a 77 F-250 2wd a couple of years ago with the intent of fixing a few things and flipping it. He drove it for a few months while I was working on it and became quite attached. When it sold he was mad....LOL.

I tried to tell him that a 16 year old kid wouldn't be able to afford gas for the big 460.

Bobby

I LOVE your mud truck. My dad had a 77 F-250. It was a beast. Some of my favorite year Ford trucks.

I live in California. Taxes, Bullet Train to Bankruptcy, gun control, and well you get the picture. I love to escape to this site and get answers to my never ending questions about truck repair. I hope the spirit of cooperation is always the strong point of this forum.

I had a '78 with the 460 and I couldn't afford the gas... it got 12 mpg whether I had a lead foot or a feather on the gas, city or highway.

Lol. He always called it "the '79" but there were so many parts mish-mashed together, it's hard to say what it really was! It was really fun, to say the least. We had a bunch of memories together with that truck back in college-long before we ever started dating!

Yeah, I had a 79 F250 Super Cab with a 460. I used it to pull a horse trailer to bird dog field trials. Going up the Grapevine or down it, with the a/c on or off, pulling the horse trailer or not, it got 12 MPG.

Then we gave it to Speedyweasel (our son) and he wishes now he still had it.

Hey Cat, I'm glad Dan took it the way it was intended. I think girls intrigue us on this site. For the most part we can't even figure out the gal we sleep with every night. And don't get started with us that have teenage daughters.

As for the truck, it's very cool Awful new, but still pretty cool
