Their site says a gap of .054, however the stock gap is .042.
Using all stock cap, wires, EECIV
Rather than playing with the gaps I thought I'd ask if anyone has any thoughts on this. At that much more of a gap, I'm not sure I'd get that good of a flame kernal.
Its up to you if you use those plugs or not , But from what Ive seen those plugs are a waste of money . You will do just as well with mileage & performance using the Motorcraft spark plugs and spend less money . If you do use them gap them the same as the stock spark plug .042 - .046 .
Well, I got a buck fifty rebate on each plug, so I figured, what the heck, let's give 'em a try.
I put one bank in at the stock gap (.042), the other at .050. I'll run them for a month or so and see what the electrodes look like and then decide on the gap or something in between.
my thinking would follow that if you still had your stock TFI coil, it's probably about time to change it out anyway - so I would get the MSD TFI coil (a better design) and go for the larger gaps.
I'll ditto that sentiment on the Splitfires. I thought I was being smart and put a set in, and not only could I not see a performance differeance, I actually picked up valve ping. Drove me crazy for months. I even put on the MSD ignition controller and blaster TFI coil...still pinged. Went back the ole Autolite spark plugs, the ping went away and then everything came together. I realized the benefit of the MSD and coil setup, got a couple extra MPG, and now it NEVER pings...I don't care how much I lug it. I'm no engineer, but my 93 F-150 w/5.0 did not like the splitfires. For what it's worth...
