I am new here and just purchased a 99 F250 Crew Cab with 132K miles on the V10. I have read about hesitation and bad #2 Plug hole. I have driven the truck for 2 days now and have just put in the first tank of gas. I have driven it about 15 miles now and the Service Engine Soon light came on. Is this common for these trucks or is this bad fuel as the Owners manual said? Is there more likely something major wrong? I hope I got a good truck? Please help or redirect me if this has been discused earlier topics. Thanks

I have 120K on it I did have a dealer check codes and they said is was the Cat. since it cost about 1K to replace ( Cali ) I just strait piped it to check and Glad I did so It did not fix the prob. I know the plugs were replaced at 90K
Okay, so they said it was a plugged cat, and to test you simply removed it? And this did not fix the issue if I'm understanding this correctly.
Is your check engine light still on? If you don't have a code reader you're gonna have to go to the local auto parts store and have them pull the codes for you. Most places do this for free.
We need the codes in order to figure this one out.
I scanned the codes cleared the Cat code since the cat is out at this point another code p0141 for the heater cerct bank 1 sensor 2 came up not sure that would have anything to do with it. nothing about the cop's came up
One that didn't even provide enough information to even begin to solve the problem.
So let's get some background info. Is your CEL on? If so have you checked to see which codes are stored? How many miles are on it?
Still need more info here. Describe the hesitation for example when is it? All the time? When sitting at a stop light? Specifically what were the other codes besides the P0141? For now I would take a look under the hood examine your vacuum hoses and wiring make sure everything is connected and not burnt/deteriorated.
I have had a few COPs go bad on me and never once did I get a code for it. Everytime it was a certain cylinder missfire or random missfire. I had to find out by checking the primary and secondary resistance for the cyl missing and it's pair.
I have seen Cat's for a lot cheaper than a grand. For example RockAuto Auto Parts has some for under 300 that are legal in CA. Error They are not available for your application in CA on this website but I would still look around!
Good luck! Keep us updated

Reason: Cat's for the 99' V10 that are available on RockAuto are no longer legal in CA.
