Engine size?

I just emailed a guy with a 86 !/2 ton for sale.
I asked what engine it had.
He answered it had a 306 V6 , anyone heard of this?

306 V6 IS a Ford engine but it sure wasn't a stock choice in 1986.

The only ones I know about are the crate engines; 306CI and around 350 hp.
It THAT is what it has, it's about a $3000 engine...

Most likely it is a "300 six". Inline, not a V.

As for a 306 Ford V6, I'd like to see a link to one, and I'd like to see a price of $3000 on any crate engine larger than a B&S.....

I'm in agreement that it most likely the 300 I6 but the lottery does get won sometimes...

That 306 is a V8, not a V6. It is a .040 overbored 302, and is priced a $3765 on sale, $4095 regular price, not $3000. Close, but.....

No such thing. The only V6 prior to 1996 was the "miracle" 3.8L, installed in 1982/83 F100's and misc 1982/90's Passenger Cars.

And, there were no F100's after 1983. It's most likely an F150 w/a 4.9L (300) I-6, or a 1982/83 F100 3.8L V6.

3.8L = If the timing cover didn't rot out before 40,000 miles, if the head gaskets didn't blow before 60,000 miles...it was a miracle!
