Okay explain where that elbow is again. I have been fighting this problem as well, and want to replace that thing. BTW excellent post, and information.
If you stand in front of the passenger side headlight, take two or three steps back, and then look on the left side of the throttle body (just below the intake manifold), you "might" be able to see it...
To tell the truth, I found it with my fingers after "re-reading" the advice in this thread. After I found it with my hand, it was easier to see.
Just feel around, "palm up", deep under the intake, on the passenger side of the throttle body. It's in there, but it's well hidden. Once you feel it, you'll know you found it. I felt the hole with my finger before I ever saw it.
Good luck to you, I hope that's all it takes, because it's an easy fix after you find that damn elbow... There's another one of those elbows at the back of the intake manifold, on the passenger side, but that one is impossible to see without a mirror.. You just gotta reach back there and find it with your fingers.
On mine, the back one went out first. But now that I know what happened, I would've just done both of them at once... but I didn't know there was "two" of them at first.
"If one is bad, the other one is ready to go too".. I would recommend doing both of them as a matter of course. It's only about $10 worth of parts...
Your description was spot on, however my boot was not too bad, but a little dry rotted. I removed it, and found a hairline split where carbon was building up I went to advanced auto, found the same part number 46022, and tried like hell to fit it on. I wound up finding another one, 46017 that fit perfectly, and DAMN if the idle smoothed right out. Again great post, thanks for passing the advice. Now I just need to find that extra 8 miles per gallon, and I would be set for ever.

Right on, I'm glad it worked out .... but if you didn't do the back one yet, get ready, because it's probably in similar shape. The back hose is harder to see. You just gotta know where to reach for it.
