It seems my Dad's 95 F150 is a POS. He drives it 2500 miles a year and the maintenance costs are double of my F250 that I put 10K a year on.
First: What are these bushings called and where do I find replacement urethane ones??
Second: My wife is driving his truck for a week and it starts to make a tapping noise. I check the oil and it is 2 quarts low. After topping it off the tapping noise goes away but I notice water in the dipstick. After several passes into the engine the oil is getting more and more emulsified with water. I have sent to oil off to be analyzed to see if coolant is in the oil. If it comes back showing glycol in the oil I guess it is head gasket time. If no glycol is in the oil - WHERE is the water coming from?? Yes my dad makes short trips with this, but the week my wife had it, her trips were 45 miles +.
If it is the head gasket, once I get this apart, how much can I mill the head to help boost compression and performance? It is a '95 300/6 cyl.
To answer the first question, they are radius arm bushings. Energy Suspension makes polyurethane ones that are great. I have them on my truck and they really helped clean up the ride and steering.
