The port layout on the heads looks like a SBC but it's hard to tell for sure from that angle and with all the stuff sitting on it.
Hm if it is a Cheby what do you think it would be CI wise? This lady I know has it and we cant figure out what it is and that's probably why if its a chevy haha. Its from her husbands 1960 Lincoln. Maybe he was doing a SBC swap
Best I can find is MEL motors have evenly spaced exhaust ports, so that is not one. As for how many CI it would have if it's a SBC, no one can tell from that picture. Only a measurement of the bore and stroke would tell. There are many stock displacements and many additional combinations. As with the Ford FE, nearly all of them look the same externally.

Huh ok thanks. Looks almost like a 317 Y block and there were between 4-6 different models of the 317 I was told...
Y would have two bolt valve covers, thus no perimeter bolt holes for valve covers. It would also have a valley cover under the intake, and thus a surface for that to mount to and seal. I can't tell from the pic. Front sump though, that's not an SBC feature.
The 318 and 360 Mopars share the chevy style head port arrangement and use a timing cover similar to the one shown though not exactly the same, but does that timing cover belong to this motor is is it just laid there?
I think it goes to the block. A friends friend is going to get more pics Saturday so we can figure it out. Never seen a timing cover like this one before. odd
