hell guys, im new to this forum.... i have a 04 6.0.... there has been oil leaking out of the intercooler tube down by the boot on frame rail, there is also a wet ring around the exhaust tip... my question is, would this be a turbo going bad? thanks ....
Oil in the CAC can be as simple as the crankcase is overfilled and the CCV is letting too much into the intake; on paper the engine takes 15 quarts to refill but 13.5-14 quarts will usually put you in the correct spot on the dipstick.
But oil in the exhaust points towards a failed turbo bearing, or injector o-rings. Remove the intake tube from the turbo, and grab the nut on the impeller. End play should be no more than 0.0036" and radial movement should be no more than .02", aka it shouldn't really move when you push/pull on the nut with your hand. Check the exhaust manifolds and see if one is wet compared to the ones beside it.
