2005 EXPD. Front Claiper removal ??

2005 Expedition needing front pads and rotor replacement. Find that the caliper slider bolts are now a female hex insert requiring a male hex stud tool, (love this talk early in the morning).

Went to the local PS and they sold me a 3 piece set 1/4"-8mm, 3/8", all to small, they indicated that the largest available 10mm, home I went and again to small,. They all rotate around inside insert making no contact. Tried various metric allen wrench sizes thinking the stud inserts might be to short and again no luck.

Any thoughts on the correct size insert needed.

Just did the front brakes on the wife's 2006 expy. They were a 9mm. Not one of the popular sizes that come in most kits.

Try a T45 torx. Some years do use the 9mm others don't.

I just replaced a stuck caliper. My pins were t45 torx. I have a 98 Expe, though. A little older than yours.

PAf250 gave me the correct fitment, 9 mm. Used a 9mm allen wrench and short extension handle. All is well, thanks again for all of the quick responses.

The information given on this site has saved me on my F-150 (previous), and my F-250 and Expedition. Thank you to all.
