I just joined tonight in search of some opinions on transmission work. That topic is posted in the appropriate section so let's talk about my truck. It's a '77 F-100 bare bones model with a 4.9l 6 cyl and 3 speed man column shift. Miles are unknown but I've put about 10k on it in the last year and the truck seems to be in fairly good mechanical condition. I think it was a farm truck in it's first life and then spent many years in a barn before the previous owner started bringing it back to life. The factory paint was Light Jade, as far as I can tell from initial research, but 95% of the exterior is pure patina. Almost no paint is left. I like it because it hides the many years of work that the truck endured. Since my very first truck was my grandpa's 77, this one is growing roots through my veins. I think I'll be holding on to it for a long time, if not until I can no longer drive.

As for myself, I'm 40 something with a lifetime of general mechanical knowledge and like to do all my own maintenance if it's within my physical capabilities and doesn't push the limits of my experience. I'm still learning though. My first engine build just happened. It was some mod work on the top end of one of my motorcycles. Learning how to check valve clearances with clay, checking squish, degreeing the cam and several other things were all firsts for me and it worked out very well with a lot of help from people online. I look forward to participating here anyway that I can.
